LA band and art collective julie just announced a new collaboration through their creative subsidiary, ette, with Milan-based design studio GR10K. And it feels like a natural fit, with a clothing collection, a physical zine, and a launch party at Dover Street Market Paris.
If you know julie, you’ll know the band’s world has always stretched beyond music. ette is where their interests in fashion, art, and industrial design come together, making GR10K seem like a pretty natural collaborator. The Milan-based studio works closely with manufacturers, textile mills, specialist suppliers, and craftspeople across Europe, with a particular focus on how things are actually made. That approach runs through the collection, which was dreamed up by julie alongside GR10K. There’s a skirt, scarf, tunic, zip-up sweater, trousers, and more, combining GR10K’s knowledge of materials and production with ette’s darker, more experimental visual language.
But the project doesn’t stop at clothes. ette and GR10K have also made a physical zine filled with imagery, stickers, and other pieces from the collaboration, with the zine and its digital archives available through ette.design. The collaboration will also be celebrated with a launch party at Dover Street Market Paris on October 3rd.
The timing of this new collection feels perfectly fitting. julie have had a busy year, continuing to build out a world that stretches well beyond their music. After emerging in the late 2010s and breaking through with their 2020 single “flutter,” the LA trio have gone on to release their debut album my anti-aircraft friend, perform at Coachella, Primavera, and Lollapalooza, and share stages with acts including The Jesus and Mary Chain, Interpol, and The Marías.
Now, with ette x GR10K, that same creative world is taking another form.
It’s another step in julie’s ever-expanding creative universe. Since breaking through with “flutter” in 2020, the LA trio have released their debut album ‘my anti-aircraft friend’ in 2024 and played festivals including Coachella, Primavera, and Lollapalooza. Now, their world is moving further into fashion and design too.
The ette x GR10K collection drops September 28th through ette.design and selected retailers.
