DIPG: Les Jardins Suspendus Marseille by Claudia Checketts

Aa Magazine's culture editor Claudia Checketts documents her impromptu trip to Marseille.

Dearest Aa readers,

Pre-ADE jitters, a vitamin D craving and a RyanAir flight credit inspired my escapade to Marseille last weekend (also doubling as a belated birthday celebration for my dear friend, Maxim). I had the pleasure of exploring Marseille’s beautiful seaside, city life and endless shopping and dining adventures. Les Jardins Suspendus kindly extended their Summer celebrations into October, providing one last weekend of dancing at The Citadel. What I craved was delivered—an unforgettable blend of medieval funk and historic stone walls at Fort Saint-Nicolas. The lineup featured French DJs Emma B and Occibel, who set the tone with vibrant tech-house beats and bouncy disco bass lines that threw us (00s kids) back to the 90s. My friends have been into these DJs for a while, so we were having a blast, and Maxim received a delightful birthday gift in the form of an unforgettable night (and now a mention in this Aa write-up).

The fun and eclectic crowd (which took some warming from work function to party) added even more charm to the night. Ultimately, both the crowd and beats gave our group a rambunctiously fun evening, as evidenced by the photographs that follow. Please enjoy and explore freely…

Till next time xoxo
