The Earth has tilted, the seasons have officially switched lanes, and the spring equinox has arrived. Which means the long dark saga of winter is technically over and Amsterdam is already acting like it has been liberated. One glimpse of double digit temperatures and the entire city starts behaving like it is the Mediterranean. Sunglasses out. Terraces full. Jackets mysteriously disappearing.
We support this behaviour.
In fact we recommend treating this weekend like a manifestation exercise for the next few months. What kind of spring do you want. Elegant museum girl spring. Flirting on terraces spring. Dancing until 4am spring. Personally we are aiming for silly spring. Slightly chaotic. Social. Good music. Good food. The occasional irresponsible purchase that somehow feels necessary.
The weather is doing its part. Sunday is forecast to reach a generous 14 degrees which in northern hemisphere logic means short shorts, bare legs and the confident belief that sitting outside for three hours is a perfectly rational decision.
And conveniently the city has provided the right ingredients to kick things off properly. There are parties, exhibitions, places to eat something excellent, and several opportunities to wander into a shop and leave slightly poorer but emotionally enriched.
