The first weekend of June is here. Summer is, at least technically, knocking on the door. The weather, however, appears to have missed the memo.
Still, a little rain has never stopped Amsterdam from having a good time and frankly, this city looks particularly determined to prove that point this weekend.
If May was all about terraces and convincing ourselves we could survive on sunshine alone, June is kicking off with a different agenda. Store openings, pop ups, launches, and enough opportunities to accidentally spend money you definitely intended to save. Consider this your sign to take yourself on a shopping spree. Or at the very least, a very committed browse.
And once you’ve acquired a new tote bag, pair of shoes, niche magazine, or object you absolutely did not need but suddenly cannot live without, there is a healthy roster of parties waiting for you. The dance floors remain busy, the lineups remain tempting, and despite the clouds overhead, the city’s social calendar shows no signs of slowing down.
So grab a jacket, embrace the humidity, and remember that some of the best weekends happen when everyone thought they would stay home.
