Have you ever come across the concept of a fictional football club? That’s exactly what Tokyo-based label F.C.Real Bristol is, and for their first collaboration with Carhartt WIP, that idea is translated into a capsule collection that includes sportswear, accessories, and football-related objects. It’s one of those pairings that makes more sense the closer you look at where both brands come from.

F.C.Real Bristol was started in 1999 under SOPH., built around the idea of a fictional football club. The concept came about just before the 2002 World Cup in Japan, at a time when football apparel wasn’t really part of everyday dress yet. Since then, the label has made collections for both fictional players and supporters. These collections range from match kits and training gear to recovery wear, all designed to be worn both on-pitch and off-pitch.
That approach lines up naturally with Carhartt WIP. While rooted in workwear, the brand has been shaped over the years by different cultural spaces, from skateboarding to music scenes, constantly shifting in how its clothing is worn depending on context. This collaboration sits in that grey area where function and everyday wear start to overlap.

F.C.Real Bristol is the main focus of this collection. The fictional team’s performance-driven shapes and fabrics are reworked through Carhartt WIP’s colour palette of dusty browns, navy, black, and wax tones. Pieces range from varsity jackets in heavy interlock fabrics to lightweight nylon warm-up jackets, along with game shirts, shorts, and accessories like scarves, socks, and a canvas cap. It also features smaller, more unexpected items, including a custom football and a brown rubber duck, keeping the concept of the fictional club alive. The campaign, shot by Theodor Guelat, illustrates that same idea. Rather than focusing on the game itself, it presents football in a more abstract way, centred around emotion, ritual, and shared experience, which is what makes it unique.
The F.C.Real Bristol x Carhartt WIP collection is available via Carhartt WIP stores, selected global retailers, carhartt-wip.com, and SOPH. sales channels. Alongside the drop, the brands are bringing the energy offline with a run of public table football tournaments set to take over cities including Amsterdam, London, Paris, Tokyo, and New York, so definitely keep an eye out for that.
