Friendbook 13: Benjamin Aerts

In our 13th Friendbook feature, we’re excited to introduce Benjamin Aerts, a talented stylist based in Amsterdam.

Benjamin’s journey started in Zimbabwe and Uganda before they settled in The Netherlands at the age of three, bringing a diverse cultural background to their work.

Following a dynamic shoot for the re-release of Dr. Martens Creepers, we had the pleasure of sitting down with Benjamin. The iconic silhouette of the Creepers resonates deeply, whether due to its historical significance post-WWII or its association with our teenage days on Tumblr. As the fashion director for this project, Benjamin aimed to showcase the Creepers and the icons wearing them in a fresh light. But who is Benjamin Aerts, and how do they express themselves through their profession?

‘Watching the movie Marie-Antoinette ignited my passion for costumes and fashion,’ Benjamin reflects. Transitioning their love for clothing from a hobby to a successful fashion career, Benjamin Aerts has become a prominent figure in the industry. Based in Amsterdam, they are part of a vibrant creative community striving to challenge norms through fashion, art, and culture.
