Nyege Nyege x Garage Fest is back for its 5th edition, and this one is a 30 hour weekender

Underground electronics, a dub soundsystem on the terrace, a Moroccan breakfast, and 30 hours of music at one of Amsterdam’s most beloved small clubs.

If you have been following Garage Noord’s yearly collaboration with Nyege Nyege, you already know what to expect. If you have not, now is a good time to start paying attention.

This July 25th, the gathering returns for its fifth edition, and it is a 30 hour weekender. The format runs from Saturday night through Sunday night, with music inside and outside. Nyege Nyege,a collective based in Kampala, Uganda, has been championing underground music from East Africa and beyond since 2015, will bring their network of local and international artists to Garage Noord once again this summer. Expect adventurous electronics, live performances, and sounds you will not hear anywhere else in Amsterdam that weekend.

The lineup has not been fully announced yet, but the artist page already points to some serious names. Kampire, Jay Mitta, Hibotep, Suzi Analogue, Elias Mazian, and Nsasi are among those associated with the programme, alongside a mix of local and international talent that reflects Nyege Nyege’s reputation for connecting global underground scenes.

On Sunday morning, the programme slows down a little. Friends from café40 will be serving a vegetarian Moroccan breakfast from 09:00 to 13:00, with breakfast tickets available in advance for €10.

Tickets are priced accessibly: €20 for Saturday night, €30 for Sunday day and night, and €40 for the full weekender with re-entry. If buying a ticket is not possible right now, Garage Noord is also offering a solution: email info@garagecultuur.nl before Wednesday 22 July and they will figure something out.
