Today marks one year since October 7, 2023, when Hamas launched an attack on Israel, resulting in the killing of Israeli civilians and the taking of hostages. The large-scale retaliatory offensive by Israel into Gaza has led to immense destruction and humanitarian crises extending to the West Bank and Lebanon.
The year-long aggression has caused thousands of deaths, displaced millions, and destroyed critical infrastructure, including schools, hospitals, and homes. Food, water, and healthcare systems have been severely compromised, leaving Gaza in a state of emergency.
At Aa Magazine, we stand in support of the liberation of Palestinian people and lands, and their right to live in peace.
It is crucial to recognize that the current situation cannot be viewed in isolation. It has deep historical roots, tied to the Nakba, when 15,00 Palestinians were killed by Zionist military forces between 1947 and 1949, and decades of tension, occupation, apartheid, and displacement.
We encourage everyone to stay informed about the complexities of the situation. Here is a compilation of resources on how to support and stay informed about the developments in Palestine, continuously updated by the Aa Magazine team.

Lebanon
On Monday, September 23, 2024, Israel launched a two-week-long airstrike operation in Lebanon, targeting the Iran-backed militant group Hezbollah. Since the start of the campaign, more than 2,000 people have been killed, and over 9,500 injured in southern Lebanon and the Bekaa Valley. The Lebanese Ministry of Health estimates that 1.2 million Lebanese have been displaced by Israeli bombardments, which have affected large parts of the country.
United Nations officials have warned of an unfolding humanitarian crisis in Lebanon. As of Friday, October 4, the U.N. reported that nearly 900 emergency shelters across the country are no longer able to accommodate displaced individuals and are rapidly running out of resources.
We have gathered a list of organizations and crowdfunding campaigns to support Lebanon during this crisis.
