Just when we thought spring had properly arrived, the universe decided to pull an early April Fools’ Day. The puffers are so back. Rain is back. The brief fantasy of bare ankles and terrace optimism lasted roughly one week before the weather remembered where we live.
Still, we are choosing to look at this positively. If you think about it, rain is essentially an outdoor shower, and that sounds rather tropical. Suddenly, the whole situation feels less tragic and more like a wellness experience courtesy of the Dutch climate.
Luckily, Amsterdam continues doing what it does best regardless of the forecast. People still gather, restaurants stay busy, galleries open their doors, and someone somewhere is always throwing a party. The cultural calendar remains fully operational despite us drowning in sorrow and rain.
This weekend also comes with a small technical bonus. Daylight savings kicks in, meaning the clocks move forward and the night magically loses an hour. So if you find yourself leaving a party at six in the morning, do not feel guilty. Time itself has betrayed you, and you have been nothing short of responsible.
Raincoats may be back in circulation, but the city still has plenty going on. Expect parties, exhibitions, good places to eat, and several opportunities to wander into a shop.
So head out, have fun, and let us know how it went.
