If you want to take a break from Amsterdam’s buzzing venues, you can hop on a train and go to Utrecht. On September 11th, KEEP.SPACE.FEST is coming for a day-long festival full of performances, experimental jazz, improvisation, dance & contemporary club culture. It starts from 16:30 & finishes at 02:00.
This year is the third gathering across five stages at De Nijverheid and a new stage at Vogelfrei. KEEP.SPACE.FEST is curated by Gaudeamus Festival in collaboration with Keep It Moving Radio and The Space is the Place. The name of the festival is a combination of the two.
Annebel b2b Ambu Bambu is one of the biggest highlights, curated by the Uncloud festival (contemporary art & music festival in Utrecht). Together they will combine IBM, leftfield techno, dubstep, jungle and immerse you in a genre-fluid rhythms and sounds.
Goda Žukauskaitė is going to perform “DIRVA” (Lithuanian for soil) which is a site-specific performance on digging as a ritual. The body enters into a relationship with the soil in an act of care, exchange, and nourishment.
If anyone missed experimental accordionist Suzan Peeters at Rewire 2026, you have the chance to see her in Utrecht. Suzan is pushing the limits of what you can do between your body and your instrument.
Nick Neuburg is a percussionist, based in New York. He performs both solo and in a duo with bassist Brittany Karlson, The Great Link, Sam Newsome’s Trio, several trios with pianist Eli Wallace, and Steven Long’s PRNCX among many others. He is going to play at NDSM on the 12th September in case you miss him in Utrecht.
Another highlight are Sou & Puck Wacki – the duo that creates sounds in dialogue & channeled through modular synthesis. Both of them draw on deep listening, improvisation, and live electronics.
Lacuna will present the live performance “Saz-e-Yaad.” The performance is built from archival recordings from Kashmiri folk and classical music from the 1980s and 1990s. It reflects on the ruptured Kashmiri music, migration, and unstable forms. It explores the uses of Gen AI for archival repurposing.
