Some photographs capture a moment. Others tell us something about the world we live in. For more than three decades, Amsterdam-born photographer Dana Lixenberg has been doing the latter, turning her lens toward the people, places and communities that make up the complex fabric of American life.

Her book, “American Images,” published by Roma Publications, brings together more than 30 years of work in the first comprehensive overview of her career. Known for her intimate, large-format portraits, Lixenberg approaches her subjects with a sensitivity that resists stereotypes and simplistic narratives, particularly when documenting communities facing social, economic and environmental challenges.

Now on an international tour, “American Images” has made its way back to Amsterdam. To mark the occasion, Patta collaborated with Lixenberg and Roma Publications on a limited-edition T-shirt inspired by the book. First unveiled in Paris, the collaboration arrived in Amsterdam on Nov. 5, with an event at Enter Enter that brought together photography, fashion, music and community to celebrate her work.
