So much to reflect on after FIBER’s 11th edition! I was left with inspiration, meaningful conversations, and full of joy that a festival like this can still have a place in Amsterdam.
These photo series evoke the theme of fragility and vulnerability as imperfection is something that we all seek in times of machine precision. I was nervous and overwhelmed with information and emotions, but in a good way.
I was excited to start my de Brakke Grond journey with hearing Bapari & Whatever the Weather and finishing with the excellent Sound Art Sunday with Amber Meulenijzer and Anaïs Lossouarn. At Orgelpark Kara-Lis Coverdale and Anushka Chkheidze introduced immersive organ music with the 4DSOUND system. The highlight for me was TILLATEC’s daring performances of eoobe, Charlène Dannancier, mesocosm in combination with the impressive sculpture of LED lights and glass, curated by Tharim Cornelisse & Annelieke Rovers.
I browsed through Underbelly Press’s intriguing selection as the symposium programme brought the depth I am usually missing during festivals. Bint Mbareh’s performance, bathed in green light, was a cathartic experience that deserves more attention.
The exhibition felt like a sister to Rewire as I saw Anaïs Lossouarn’s Ce Que La Pierre Retient du Vivant and Mariska de Groot’s Incidence of Light, but with its own unique twist.
FIBER 2026 was a special experience and I hope it stays alive with the same spirit.
