Griff and ASICS SportStyle just dropped the GEL-CUMULUS 16 by Griff, out 12 June, and it is worth paying attention to. The starting point was ASICS’ founding philosophy, Anima Sana in Corpore Sano, a Sound Mind in a Sound Body, the idea that movement runs through everything you do. Griff, whose music has always carried that same physical, emotional pull, was a natural fit for it.

The shoe is built on the GEL-CUMULUS 16, so the comfort is all there, but the design is what stands out. It comes in black, with a ribbon lacing system pulled from ballet, all strength and grace with a bit of edge to it. Griff is known for pairing socks with loafers, and that detail shows up here too: layered, a little playful, but still something you would reach for on a normal day.
“I wanted the shoe to feel like an extension of my everyday style,” says Griff. “I wanted to make it playful and elegant but also comfortable and something I can style from studio days to performing on stage to simply living my life.”

If you are in London, the pop-up is worth a visit. ASICS is taking over a space in Hackney, at 1-3 Yorkton Street, from 12 to 14 June, designed by architect and creative Kat Milne, where you can shop the shoe in person and get the full story behind the collab.
The GEL-CUMULUS 16 by Griff is available now through select retailers and ASICS channels. Retail price €160.
