In “STATIC” photographer Zoe Ardiff (Dublin/Amsterdam) captures this generation’s attempt to create new, unconventional forms of togetherness.
The editorial renders a tension: the saturation of constant digital connectivity versus a gut-level urge to be present. A quiet paradox emerges. In a world more connected than ever, the desire for its opposite intensifies. IRL becomes the new escape. A subtle nod to the lingering social glitch we never fully shook.
What was once framed as intimacy has settled into filter bubbles that isolate rather than connect, leaving behind what increasingly feels like a “touch crisis.”
Recent research from Hagu, a platform rethinking companionship, underscores this shift. Across major cities, a shared fatigue surfaces. Digital natives are done with the endless loop of dating apps. What emerges instead is a craving for what respondents describe as “curated warmth”, moments of presence, stripped of performance, free from the weight of the traditional dating script or hollow “new age” affect.
Working alongside stylist Tirino Yspol (Patta) and a collective of homegrown talent, Ardiff approaches fashion as a non-verbal language. Featuring pieces by Camiel Fortgens, Joone Joonam, Youngjin Choe, 1/Off and Xander Zhou, the imagery explores style as instinct rather than identity. A series of micro-gestures that make connection briefly, almost physically, tangible.
